- Where will it live? Is that room ready for it?
- Who will touch it daily, and what's their skill level?

Step 8: Schedule a 90-Day Post-Purchase Review
This is the step most procurement checklists leave out. Buyers hand over the equipment, everyone nods, and nobody looks back until something breaks.
At 90 days, go back to the clinical team and ask:
- Is the device actually being used?
- Are there any workflow friction points?
- Did the training cover what staff actually needed?
- Are there unexpected costs (supplies, service calls, downtime)?
That review will tell you more than any vendor specification sheet. It also gives you solid data for your next purchasing decision—which is the whole point of a procurement system.
Common Mistakes I've Made So You Don't Have To
Only comparing list prices. The cheapest equipment can become the most expensive when you factor in service contracts, training gaps, and downtime.
Assuming vendor-branded is the only option.
